As a RAN member, in addition to educational resources such as our weekly listserv and quarterly EcoNews bulletins, you are invited to participate in programs that advance your personal advocacy goals. Below are just two of our offerings:

Natural Resources Defense Council ACE Collaboration

RAN is proud to be participating in the ACE Program, a “grass-tops” initiative with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). This program deploys RAN members as respected advocates – or “ACEs” – to intercede with officials on Capitol Hill or in the White House on urgent legislative matters affecting the environment.

When a crucial vote comes to our attention, RAN mobilizes members, sending an Action Alert email along with talking points and relevant background on both the issues and positions of policymakers to be lobbied. As an ACE, you then contact your government official and use your voice to effect change.

The ACE program is tailored to you. Just tell us about your interests, and we’ll send targeted Action Alerts that reflect your needs. Becoming an ACE doesn’t cost any money; you simply volunteer your time and influence. We only ask that ACEs be available to make calls on fairly short notice – generally within a week – given the fast-moving nature of major votes and the need to strike while the iron is hot.

RAN collaborates with other organizations on similar advocacy alerts, and we welcome your participation. If you have any questions about the ACE program or would like to specify your interests, please email RAN@RachelsNetwork.org.

Congressional Guidebook for the 111th Congress

At the start of each new Congress, Rachel’s Network and RAN jointly distribute a Congressional Guidebook. This resource features a profile of each Member of Congress, including a photo, contact information, and committee assignments. It also includes Capitol Hill resources, a legislative glossary, suggestions on how to communicate with your Representative, and state legislative information. We will release a new edition for every new Congress and encourage you to consult the current Guidebook regularly to enhance your individual lobbying efforts.
