Why RAN Supports Her: Catherine Cortez Masto has a proven track record of working with both parties to find common ground and solutions to protecting the environment and supporting clean energy. Cortez Masto was elected as Nevada Attorney General in 2006 and 2010, where she represented the state in important cases to prevent Yucca Mountain from becoming a nuclear waste storage site and to clean up Lake Mead. Cortez Masto supported the federal designation of the Basin and Range National Monument. She is also committed to capitalizing clean energy resources (solar, wind, and geothermal energy) to diversify the economy.

About the Race: On November 8, 2016, Catherine Cortez Masto was elected to the United States Senate in the open seat vacated by Democratic Leader Harry Reid.
